Denise Leigh

I am Denise Leigh, married for 30 years to Andy, with daughter Hannah who is due to marry Michael next year. My family have lived in this area for over a century. Grandfather Edward Jackson was baptised at St Augustine’s church, I attended St Edward’s primary school and I was married at Sacred Heart church. However, regular Sunday mass attendance has always been in Sneinton, firstly at St Bernadette’s on Sneinton Dale, then moving to use St Christopher’s Anglican church on Colwick Road. I help lead the music at St Edward’s Sunday morning masses where I sing and play the guitar. I am also a Eucharistic Minister, Reader and now Chair of the Holy Family Parish Council.

Before retiring I worked for 35 years as a Maths teacher, 32 of which I spent at Christ the King school, where I was Head of Maths and a Director of Learning. I was also Head of Walsingham House.

I am a Notts County fan and season ticket holder. Over a lifetime of watching football I can proudly call myself a member of ‘The 92 Club’, with a badge to prove it! I have been a runner for 40 years, and this year will see my 30th participation in the Robin Hood Marathon. Since retiring I have become a member of the Nottingham Trent University choir, I like to make cross-stitch pictures and cards, research my family history and to walk.
