My name is Gerard Whittle husband to Ann; father to four children and grandfather to six grandchildren. I am a Forest fan who also likes cricket, badminton and cycling. I am a fan of Star Trek.
I retired from the Headship of the Good Shepherd Academy in 2014 having served in Catholic Education for over 38 years.
As a member of this parish since 1985, I have served on the Parish Council since 2015 and have been the Chair for nearly two years.
I attend Holy Mass usually on a Sunday at 10.00.am, being a regular reader and helping to serve tea and coffee about once every six weeks immediately afterwards.
During the Pandemic I volunteered as a Steward at the 10.00.am Mass on a Sunday morning.
As a reader, I love the drama that the readings bring to the Mass especially in the weeks leading up to Christmas and as we approach Easter. I have in the past written Nativity and Easter Stories for the children of my school to act out.
I am a failed photographer but console myself by using this ‘hobby’ to tell the story of the Sacred Heart Parish through pictures whether it be First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Weddings or special events.
I see myself as someone able to give good council, to be able to listen, to deliberate and to support. The new build in the form of the Parish Centre is something I am very excited about as I feel that I have in some small way along with my colleagues on the Parish Council helped to get to this point. Quiz Nights, Music Evenings and Auction of Services.
This is me.
