Our Lady & St Edward’s Primary School

On the 24th and 25th April, Our Lady & St Edward’s Primary School had a visit from an inspection team from the Catholic Schools Inspectorate. Every Catholic school is inspected every three years to monitor its overall effectiveness in its provision of Religious Education, Catholic Life and Mission and Collective Worship. This very rigorous process looks at what the school provides in each area, how well it is led by the Head and staff and Governors, and what the results or outcomes of this provision and leadership are.

Schools are graded as outstanding, good, requiring improvement or inadequate. You can read the full report below and read just how blessed we are with the school. Some highlights are

‘The school lives out its mission in very tangible ways, demonstrating excellent pastoral and spiritual care for pupils and the whole school community’ …… pupils are very articulate in expressing how the school teaches them to live out their faith’ …. ‘pupils are well prepared by the school to lead prayer and liturgy and do so with high levels of understanding and appreciation of their own faith journey’ …… the school enjoys a range of flourishing partnerships which enhance the spiritual life of the whole school community, including those linked with the parish and the diocese;…. Leaders and governors have a clear vision of the Catholic life and mission of the school’ …… the partnership with the parish community continues to flourish ‘…..’the leaders’ calm leadership makes an oasis in an area facing significant challenges’ ……

Congratulations to Mrs Byrne and her staff – it is great that their hard work and dedication has been recognised in this way.
